"JQJ213- Now With An Extra Cylinder!" (jqj213)

Had to run to Walmart to get washer fluid for my car and I had to check out the Hot Wheels. Usually, my store is a huge disappointment, but today it wasn't. Hiding in plain site were these two classics; one from 2008 and one from 2009!
I first found this 1967 Shelby GT-500 sitting second from the shelf on a peg. I was immediately drawn to it when I was looking at the pictures and saw rally lights on a bright yellow car. I was shocked to pull it down and see it was from 2009!
I then found this 1962 Chevy (Impala?) This one was actually hiding off the racks behind one of those 9-packs. This one is even cooler since it celebrates the 40th anniversary (its from 2008). The car is really clean looking; and I actually like the white interior.
My question is this: how do these show up? I go to that store a lot and they aren't there and all the sudden they are. I found one from 2011 last time, but this is years before that! Are they lost in the store or do people really return these?

My guess is that they got lost in the stockroom. Someday a bored worker came upon them, shelved them, and just like that you end up with 6 year old Hot Wheels!

I would love to work there for one day just to go hunting for these and go through the new cases! I'd actually hope to get fired!

Its the UPC code on the back. Some stores, like Wal-Mart, recycle their codes, so some collectors that have multiples of some cars they can't get rid off 'return' them to the stores. When the person at the desk scans them the computer tells them Hot Wheels, they look down see Hot Wheels and return them. They really don't care. The collector then uses the credit to go buy more desirable Hot Wheels.
I read about it on a forum years ago. I think that is how my local Fred Meyers keeps coming up with 2011's.
